HB1271 repeals
license to carry statute (See SB 454) (NHCF opposes) (this bill was also defeated)
HB1310 extends the
time period of a state license to sell handguns from three years to ten years;
changes the words "may issue" to "shall issue". (NHCF opposes) (this Bill was defeated)
HB1190 allows those
with a CCW permit for guns to also carry or sell other weapons.
HB1309 expands ban
on noise pollution lawsuits against shooting ranges and stops local ordinances
on ranges. House Judiciary report
pending.
HB1385 Protection of
Liberty Act; prohibits confiscation of firearms unless specified by state
law. House Criminal Justice &
Public Safety report pending.
NATIONAL LEGISLATION
Gun Supplier Immunity Ð S.659 is scheduled for a Senate floor vote on March 3. (NHCF opposes)
Assault Weapons Ban Ð
The current ban expires Sept. 13, 2004.
Two Senate bills and a House bill have been introduced to make sure this
does not sunset. Bush is AWOL on
this issue after promising a reauthorization during his 2000 campaign and
Congressional leaders vow it will never make it to his desk for the test. All
Democratic presidential candidates promise to renew this legislation.
